About the Emirati Arabic
There is no specific Emirati dialect, the UAE dialect is geographically divided into several sections with branches: the dialect of the United Arab Emirates, the dialect of the Bedouin of the United Arab Emirates and the dialect of the mountainous areas of the United Arab Emirates.
The Emirati dialect was characterized by the abundance of its vocabulary from time immemorial as a result of the gathering of the first Emiratis, who came from two main destinations from the West and the South. Three teams came from the West: Hijazi’s, Najdis and Hassawi. These three groups that came from the West brought in three separate dialects, including many differences, while those who came from the East are Omanis and their dialect has a lot of vocabulary and syntax of the dialect Hamirip.
Therefore, there is no doubt that this mixing in the origins of the population reflected on the vocabulary of the language and added to it and on them, as these current dialects are mostly a group of dialects whose words have moved from one tribe to another for one reason or another, either because a tribe may be influential or because a word is one tribe easier to pronounce than another
The easy word is spread at the expense of other similar words. Due to the fact that the United Arab Emirates has been in the corridors of trade since ancient times, it has been characterized by the large number of arrivals from different countries of the world, and mixing them with the Emirati population; Indigenous people have many words from the population coming to the state, and used them in their daily lives with a simple change in the way the word is spoken from its native language
Factors affecting the Emirati dialect
Researchers and scholars summarize the reasons why the UAE dialect is affected by:
Use more than one language in everyday life such as English and Urdu to understand with expats and foreigners.
The younger generation is ashamed of using the original vocabulary as a retrograde guide that does not provide.
Marrying foreign women.
The cultural and intellectual divergence between the younger generation, the ancestors and the first parents drive the original dialect.
Some original words are no longer used in today's life.
Mixing domestic servants of Asian nationalities in Emirati homes with children and youth
Some researchers propose to write down the popular dialect in an attempt to avoid the extinction of the original vocabulary and its transformation. The customs of its people and the expatriates who have joined with them in the community and formed part of it
About the Emirati dialect course
This course will introduce you to Emarati Arabic. The aim of the course is to build your vocabulary and introduce you to common greetings and expressions. To this end, the course book features full-length situational conversations pertaining to daily life in UAE, which you will be able to practice aloud in class. This method was chosen in order for you to learn vocabulary and expressions in context. This course is suitable for those who have already studied Arabic to at least lower-intermediate level. You must be familiar with basic grammar and vocabulary, as well as with the Arabic alphabet. (If you study Arabic using the al-Kitaab textbook, you should have finished studying al-Kitaab, Part One.) Emarati Arabic, presents relatively few difficulties to the Arabic student, as it is one of the closest out of all regional Arabic dialects to Modern Standard Arabic.
